We don’t just take in animals; we meet them where they are — whether that’s scared, sick, senior, or surrendered. We bring them into a safe haven of compassion, medical care, and healing. My days are spent in work boots, often muddy.

Homes By Shimmy jobs paused for livestock lovings, puppy snuggles and plenty of “did you just zoom across the field” moments. Because when you rescue in Florida, you get the sun… and sometimes the storms; we weather them together.

I’m Kristin, founder of Trails to Happy Tails Second Chances Rescue, and I’m thrilled you found us. Born and raised in wild, sunny Florida, I’ve spent more than a decade rescuing the overlooked and broken-hearted — the “last-chance” animals and the “someone else’s problem” critters. This rescue is our promise: a place where every creature gets a true second shot at life, love, and a forever family.
